In the 1880’s, this house was known as Jessamine Cottage, and was occupied by Captain William Maynard and his family. Captain Maynard was a well known Bude master mariner, owner and skipper of the ketch Jessamine, in the days when essential goods came into Bude by sea. Moored in the canal between voyages, he could keep an eye on her from his front windows!
Today, number 7 is divided into three apartments, the ideal place for the kind of holiday Bude excels at. Three minutes walk will take you to the lock gates, harbour and beach, or to the post office/shop; or to hire a rowing boat on the canal. The town is about a 5 to 10 minute walk away where you will find a number of shops and restaurants.
There are lovely views across the canal to the beach and sea, and the flats are comfortably furnished and fully equipped. Each flat has its own entrance, a private parking space, and an area to sit outside and hang wet swimsuits.
There are three apartments, and an optional connecting door which links Flat 1 and Flat 2 should a larger property be required to sleep 8/9.
Flat 1 (ground floor)
Two ensuite bedrooms, sleeping 4/5. The twin bedroom has a bathroom and a door to the courtyard. The double bedroom has a shower room. The kitchen/diner is fully equipped with ceramic hob, oven, dishwasher, microwave, freezer, fridge, and washer/drier.
Flat 2 (first floor)
Two bedrooms, sleeping 4. The bathroom has a shower over the bath. The kitchen is fitted fully equipped with ceramic hob, oven, dishwasher, microwave, freezer, fridge, and washer/drier.
Flat 3 – Jessamine
Two bedrooms, sleeping 4. The bathroom has a toilet, washbasin, and bath with electric shower. The lounge/diner is furnished with easy chairs; a TV, video and DVD player; and has a door to the garden which has a small private patio. The well equipped kitchen has ample cupboard space, and views of the small grassed private garden.
