Type: Industrial Archaeology

The Bude Canal is a fascinating landscape feature, meandering through the countryside of this part of North Cornwall and the adjoining part of Devon. It also includes many points of historic interest, making it one of the country's most important canals in heritage terms.

Enjoy a peaceful walk (nice and flat, and extendable by walking back to Bude along the coast path from Widemouth Bay), cream tea, hire a rowing boat or kayak - however you decide to utilise the Canal, be sure of a great time.

Bude Tourist Information Centre have many Canal walk leaflets available to guide you through this often over-looked piece of history. Recently, Bude TIC was renovated and now offers a Canal Interpretation room for further information and research.
