Brendon Arms
Type: Pub/Inn
Since 1872 the Brendon Arms has been run as an Inn by the Brendon family who are famous for their hospitality. We pride ourselves on providing the Warmest Welcome in the West.
The Brendon Arms is a Free House and our team, led by genial Managers Geoff and Pam, serve a range of delicious Cask Marque (www.cask-marque.co.uk) accredited real ales from different Cornish producers and national brewers of excellence. We look after our beers as well as we look after our customers. Our friendly staff are trained to make your experience as enjoyable as it could possibly be.
Our carefully selected wines are food friendly and all are available by the bottle or the glass, including champagne.
Take in the local scene at Bude’s best situated Inn. Our garden is spacious and people enjoy eating and drinking on the lawn with a view of the inner harbour. The sea-lock gates and Summerleaze Beach are at the end of Breakwater Road, just a few minutes’ stroll away.
In the Public bar you can play darts, pool and poker or watch Sky Sports, which is also available on our muted outdoor TV, so no-one misses the match. Families are welcome.
The Brendon Arms has had a long association with, and made significant contributions to, local community activities, such as manning the Lifeboat and supporting the RNLI. Two previous landlords were members of the lifeboat crew and in the days of sail the Brendon family supplied the horses to carry the lifeboat and carriage to the sea at low tide. The Lounge Bar is named the Lifeboat Bar, and the old Lifeboat House is now self-catering apartments. We regret that dogs are not permitted in the Lifeboat Bar or any of the accommodations. But they are welcome in the Public Bar.
The Inn is decorated with photos of local shipwrecks and nautical antiques.
A large covered and heated seating area is provided outside for smokers, near the muted outdoor TV.
The Public bar has a wheel-chair accessible toilet with a baby changing table.
