Finding your way to Bude

The Heliport behind the TIC building is currently unusable. Pilots are requested to land at Bude Rugby Club (100 metres from the TIC). During this interim period, please contact Bude Rugby Club 01288 354795 before your arrival.
By Car
Leave the M5 at Junction 27, and follow the road past
By Train
From the North, the London Paddington to Penzance line is a fast and reliable service. Alight at Exeter St David’s Station. From Exeter St David’s, First and Western Greyhound operate the X9 and 599 services which run from outside the station to Okehampton, and then onto Bude. Alight at The Strand, which is opposite Lloyds TSB bank.
The Tourist Information Centre is a four or five minute walk away. Walk alongside the river (with the river on your left) towards Summerleaze Beach, cross Nanny Moores Bridge, walk past the Tennis Courts, left towards the Parkhouse Centre, cross the road and we are directly infront of you.
National Express
From the North, the London Paddington to Plymouth route is a fast and reliable service. Alight at Exeter Bus Station. (In the summer months, National Express run a direct Coach from London to Bude). From Exeter Bus Station, local bus companies operate the X9 and 599 service which runs from Exeter to Okehampton, and then onto Bude. Alight at The Strand, which is opposite Lloyds TSB bank.
Bude Tourist Information Centre can book your National Express coach over the phone (with credit/debit card payment), and help you organise the local bus service from the station into Bude. Alternatively, click the National Express advert below!
Taxi
We use a great local firm is Bealine Taxi , who are popular for their price and service. They do great day trips around Cornwall, and offer a Link Service for walkers.
Once you are here
You can use the local bus service to get to many areas of Cornwall and Devon. For example, there are regular services from Bude to Boscastle, Tintagel, Camelford, Newquay, Padstow, Truro and many other places in-between. See our page on bus travel.

By Boat
Entry to the Harbour is made by leaving Chapel Rock (linked to the Mainland by a breakwater) to starboard. Head towards the lock in the channel marked by two pairs of leading beacons.
The outer pair of beacons, bearing 075 degrees 30' (T) consist of: Front Mark - White spar with yellow diamond topmark. Rear Mark - White spar with yellow triangle topmark, placed half cable west of lock entrance.
The approach to Bude, either from the north or south, should be made from a south westerly direction in line with first pair of leading marks.
Immediately on passing Barrel Rock (half cable north of Chapel Rock and marked by a beacon barrel) turn to starboard and pick up the inner pair of leading marks from which the lock is clearly visible.
