This stunning historic ironstone barn has been beautifully converted to a very high level of comfort and style. The cottage is cool in the summer and warm and cosy in the cooler months and has central heating throughout. The layout of the The Granary is unusual and quirky with rooms arranged over 3 floors including a ‘chill out’ area on the minstrel’s gallery above the open plan living area. The gallery is furnished with sofa and books and has incredible views over the surrounding countryside.
The Granary is tastefully decorated throughout and has a lovely fitted kitchen boasting a washing machine, double oven and electric hob, microwave and fridge with ice-box. All guests are greeted with a ‘welcome’ pack of fresh eggs, milk and teabags and sugar so the holiday can start straightaway! The kitchen flows through to the open plan living and dining area which has comfy sofas and a dining table and chairs for four people. Because of the ‘upside-down’ design of the property the windows in the living area create a light and airy space and provide stunning views of the valley and fields. A flat screen television and DVD/CD player as well as free WIFI ensure all visitors can stay connected with the outside world (if they want to!).
Downstairs, The Granary has two well-proportioned bedrooms – a double and a twin and a family bathroom with brand new walk-in shower, providing comfortable accommodation for a family of four.
Outside the property, an allocated parking space is immediately adjacent to the steps to the entrance to the property and there is a lovely barbecue area, with outside seating, perfect for evenings spent relaxing after a day at the beach or exploring the local area.
The location of The Granary, at Higher Widemouth Farm is outstanding. Set in acres of rolling farmland, there are only 3 self-catering properties on the farm which creates a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. You are in the middle of the countryside, surrounded by farmland, but a walk of just 10 minutes along a rough track brings you to the centre of the village of Widemouth Bay and the gorgeous surfing beach and coastal path. The property offers the best of both worlds – a short distance from the bustle of the beach and places to eat at Widemouth Bay and the town of Bude with all of its amenities (only 5 minutes in the car) but beautifully secluded in a rural location with views that are second to none.
