Surfing with Atlantic Pursuits

Surfing uses long boards (up to 9ft) and you catch a wave sufficient enough for you to have time to stand and ride the wave in.  It is a fun activity, where you do not go beyond chest depth and our instructors are there to help you catch the right wave and give you the best opportunity to ride a board!

Smaller children may prefer boogie boarding which is a much smaller board used in the safe swimming area. To build confidence in the water, boogie boarding is an excellent activity learning about waves, surf safety, handling yourself in the shallows and catching small waves to shore.

“I have been in outdoor pursuits since 1970. I am one of a small team of surf kayak coaches in Great Britain. My background training comes from serving with the special forces, representing Great Britain internationally in kayaking; trained in the GB Olympic squad and took part in the Zanskar River Himalayan Expedition. As you can see, Outdoor pursuits is a way of life for me and I would like to share it with you.”
