Big Sheep day out

The Big Sheep was a big day out!

We’d been in Bude for four days, and we needed some more ideas of what to do during the half term.  We’d been into the Bude Tourist Information on day two, but returned for some more ideas.

Big-Sheep-HalloweenJane suggested I took the boys Luke (seven) and Lewie (five) to The Big Sheep – we wanted fun activities, not too expensive and Halloween activities.

As promised, it really was about half an hour drive from Bude.  Loads of parking, and although busy, no queuing to get tickets.  Jane gave us a £5 voucher – so make sure you get one too.

The place was buzzing when we got there, and as the weather was good we sat outside on the sun terrace with our sandwiches and cakes by the Shepherd’s Restaurant.
Just past there the boys saw The Twister and stayed on it for 3 or 4 times.  It made me dizzy to watch, but they had great fun.

Next we went to The Ewe Arena where the Halloween events were taking place.  The boys had their faces painted and then went into the spooky maize (they said it wasn’t too scary)!

The boys were hungry again so we went to Bo Peep’s Café where you can get a hot meal.  They could not eat fast enough as they were eager Big-Sheep-Carouselto get into the indoor play area.  They spent another hour at least going up and down the slides, whilst I had a rest and watched them.  It was a real safe for them to play.

I was glad when they wanted to move on, so next was the Show Arena.  Here were entertained by the Sheep who were extremely clever and well behaved (never again will I think sheep are very stupid)!  We followed this up by visiting pet’s corner and then catching the little train which took us around the lake.  The boys thought this was great fun as they sat in the engine seats and pretended they were driving.

Finally we had a bet on the Sheep Grand National (only £1 per sheep). We were all shouting for our sheep who won, and he was called Red Ram!  The boys won a cup and had their photo taken.

We will definitely be going back next year as we didn’t go on everything.  The boys are looking forward to go on the new Big Roller Coaster, which they hope will be open by then.

Big-Sheep-National-RaceIt really was such good value as admission includes access to all shows, attractions and play area.  Some rides did carry a nominal cost though, but only a small fee.

The Big Sheep is Devon’s Large Attraction of the Year.  When looking for the best days out, The BIG Sheep is an award winning attraction full of fun and laughter for the whole family.

Events are held frequently, keep an eye on the VisitBude events calendar.
