Bude has once again been shortlisted as the Best UK Coastal Town in the British Travel Awards 2018.
Over the past few years, Bude has won gold, silver and a bronze awards… but this year we’re aiming for another gold award. Bude can’t win this amazing accolade without votes…
Your vote will also give you a chance to win a fabulous selection of great holiday prizes on offer by the British Travel Awards.
Bude is often described as the jewel in Cornwall’s crown. The farthest north of all Cornish resorts (but the easiest to reach by road), Bude has been awarded the Best UK Coastal Town/Resort accolade in the British Travel Awards for several years in a row.
Proudly standing between the two main beaches is the iconic Bude Sea Pool. Our beaches boast both Blue Flag and Seaside Awards and the Environmental Green Flag flies high above the Bude Canal and Nature Reserve. Over the past few years Bude has seen changes but has not lost its identity as a relaxed, friendly seaside resort. Other than out-of-town developments, the town centre is a thriving mix of independent and high-street shops and eateries, whilst the Bude Canal Lower Wharf area is home to an eclectic mix of arts and crafts units and hands on workshops. The nearby villages and hamlets offer traditional village pubs and many villages still enjoy summer Revels, a Cornish version of the traditional English village fete.
The sea, lakes and rivers offer unrivaled scenery with a huge choice of activities from kayaking, surfing, stand up paddle boarding to coasteering. The cliff top area and surrounding countryside are great for rock climbing, cycling, walking and Segway hire. For those that enjoy a leisurely stroll to a full on hike, Bude has it all, with locations to suit all levels from coastal walks north and south to less strenuous circular routes through the countryside, Bude valley and Canal.
Bude can be a hive of activity or can be a peaceful haven for those looking for a little solitude. Even during the busy school holidays, a five minute walk across the beach will take you past the crowds to secluded coves. Visitors can opt to stay in a range of accommodation types with prices to suit every budget. Even if you’re looking for a rural spot to stay, you can still be close to the town and beaches.
