Bude is once again voted  Best UK Coastal Town

Praised for its fantastic activities, beautiful beaches and brilliant hospitality, we are thrilled that Bude has once again scooped the coveted Gold award at this year’s British Travel Awards as the Best UK Coastal Town.  It marks great progress over recent years, during which the resort has blossomed in so many areas.

It caps a fantastic recent renaissance for the town, which has more great things to see, do, taste and experience than ever before.  Whether it comes to great attractions and activities, stunning wild coastline or amazing local food and drink, each year the bar is raised.  In truth, many locals and visitors have known our resort’s potential for many years; but to once again see the realisation of this capped by an award is fantastic.

From old favourites to new additions…

Besides raising the bar as a whole in recent times, Bude has also raised the curtain on some of the biggest and best events the town has ever seen.  Without doubt, our fantastic festivals, quality places to Visit, Stay, Eat and Play have helped turn Bude from a cute seaside town to the Best UK Coastal Town.

Bude’s central hub is the Bude Tourist Information Centre.  Whether you simply want to grab a coffee, pick up a few gifts and souvenirs or get some advice on how to make the most of your stay in Bude, you really should visit the TIC.  Staff can book accommodation, local trips and guided walks too!

Last but not least, we believe that Bude has succeeded through developing in harmony with its surroundings. From young kids right through to avid ramblers and wildlife spotters, visitors love the leafy walks, unspoiled beaches and sense of seclusion. How many British seaside resorts have otters, wild orchids and even the odd pine marten just footsteps from the town centre?

Britain’s best coastal resort, as voted for by you!

It is fantastic for Bude to be officially recognised, but the real pride for Bude is that these particular awards are voted for by the most important people of all: you, our visitors and the public!  So perhaps you can forgive us for being in a celebratory mood; we’ve succeeded in our aim of turning Bude from a beautiful but unsung location, to officially being recognised as the Best UK Coastal Town…

Don’t take it from us or the awards however, but come and see for yourself what makes Bude such a vibrant place to visit. We guarantee you a warm welcome and stacks to enjoy and experience here in the prettiest and friendliest of Cornish resorts.

Bude named the Best UK Coastal Town in the British Travel Awards 2018…

Bude has once again enjoyed success by receiving the majority of the public votes in the prestigious British Travel Awards.

“We couldn’t be more delighted with this award. All the vision and local investment that is going into the Bude area – creating new places to eat, places to stay and exciting things to do for visitors to Bude, is clearly appealing to day visitors and holiday visitors alike.

The fact that this award is based on real votes by real people makes it even more special.  Consider the fact that any UK coastal town could be voted for, but the majority voted for Bude.   That’s pretty special!

Bude Area Tourist Board operates the Bude Tourist Information Centre and VisitBude website.  We’re proud to represent many tourism businesses, working together to provide a thriving and continually improving visitor destination – we look forward to welcoming even more visitors in 2019!”

Mark Hibbard, Tourism Officer and a Director of Bude Area Tourist Board.

Bude isn’t the only Cornish winner though.  It was a Gold award for The Lost Gardens of Heligan and Bronze for Eden Project in Best UK Leisure/Heritage Attraction and Silver for Cornwall as Best UK Holiday County/Region.

“British Travel Awards’ chief executive Lorraine Barnes Burton said: The seaside town of Bude is to be congratulated on winning the Best UK Coastal Town award.  The British Travel Awards are the only travel industry accolade voted for exclusively by the consumer and the Awards serve to recognise all that is great about travel, as experienced by the travelling public. To win a British Travel Award is a true achievement.”
