You can have a great night out (or afternoon) in Bude. We have a great range of bars and pubs, but this feature concentrates on beer and cocktails at three prime places: the Beach Hotel, North Coast Wines and The Barrel. Read on for more information to make the most of your visit to Bude or holiday.
Bude’s a really friendly place and there is lots going on! You’ll probably have done lots (or have lots planned) during your holiday in Bude – lazy days on the beach, action packed activity sessions and been out and about exploring the local area – so spending a few hours nursing a cocktail and beer is absolutely essential.
I’m not going to mention all of the pubs and bars in Bude (but please do see the links at the bottom of the page), as this feature is about local beer and gorgeous cocktails. For these, the best places are The Beach Hotel, North Coast Wines and The Barrel.
Located in the town centre is North Coast Wines. A mix of coffee shop, cocktail and wine bar, and off license. An Aladdin’s Cave of all things alcoholic, with a strong emphasis on prohibition-style cocktails and top-shelf and locally sourced and produced alcohol!
Inside, the seating (upcycled 1930’s cinema seats) is cozy and intimate. Outside, the seating area overlooks the ‘Triangle’ and is a great place to watch the world go by.
This bar doesn’t open late, so make it your first port of call and be mindful of the time if you plan to head up the road to The Barrel…
The Barrel is North Cornwall’s only Micropub and offers a selection of real Cornish Craft Ales, wine, gin and cider. It’s a lively bar and there are regular live music and open-mic sessions. Sundays are particularly interesting, where you ‘drink the barrel dry’.
Moving on, up the hill past Summerleaze Beach, make your way to The Beach Hotel. At The Beach Bar, not only are the cocktails delicious, the views of the beach and harbour are amazing – almost sobering! They offer an extensive range of wines, champagnes, beers, spirits and cocktails. The bar is large, and the outdoor terrace with heaters and seating is a firm favourite with both locals and visitors. More live music is available on a Sunday, and they serve until 11pm.
Please check their website or Facebook page for opening times, and our events page for details of live music.
