Ilfracombe Aquarium

Cornwall’s Regimental Museum

Each of the 12,000 collection items has its own story to tell. Stories about the battles that have been fought, weapons that were used or personal letters that were written on the battlefield. This former headquarters of the Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry houses more than three hundred years of military history, a library and conference and exposition rooms.Our Gift Shop sells a varied range of books, gifts, cards and souvenirs which chime with the museum’s themes. As well as our fantastic range of gift items, visitors can also purchase ice creams, fudge and bottled water. The Gift Shop is situated inside The Keep, at the entrance to the museum. Visitors to the shop are welcome to browse the shop without visiting the museum. All profits from the shop are used to support the charitable purposes of the museum.

Bodmin and Wenford Railway

Journey back in time at the Bodmin and Wenford Railway and experience the glorious era of steam travel on Cornwall's only full size railway still operated by steam locomotives.  Passenger train services operate between February and December and run daily through the summer with many themed journeys and special events. Bodmin General has car parking facilities for our passengers. This FREE car park is sited directly adjacent to the station and available for the exclusive use of our own visitors and staff. Steamers Cafe at Bodmin General Station is open on all train operating days – serving a good variety of hot and cold drinks, Cornish Pasties, sausage rolls, freshly cut sandwiches, cakes, snacks and sweets. There is seating available inside and outside the cafe for customers. Along the platform, towards the signalbox, you will find a small Picnic Area, should you choose to bring your own food and drink with you during your visit. At Bodmin Parkway Station, the old Signalbox on the Down platform has been converted to a Café, which is operated by the Bodmin & Wenford Railway, providing a valuable service to main line travellers, but also to walkers and our own passengers. The Signalbox Cafe serves a range of hot and cold food, snacks and non-alcoholic drinks. A warm welcome is guaranteed……and the home made cakes have to be tasted to be believed!

War Horse Valley Countryside Park

War Horse Valley Countryside Park is a 40 minute journey from Bude, just 5 minutes east of Hatherleigh.Parsonage Farm has been farmed by the same family for nearly 100 years and is the farm around which the book War Horse by Michael Morpurgo was set, along with the parish of Iddesleigh. It was also once home to Revd John ‘Jack’ Russell, first breeder of the terriers to which he gives his name.​This beautiful hidden part of Devon boasts stunning scenery of rolling hills and valleys with Dartmoor as its magnificent backdrop. Come and explore War Horse Valley – its farming history, its people and its Wartime stories and of course the place where the story of Joey and Albert was born.
