Ilfracombe Aquarium is an award-winning, all-weather, educational, family attraction located in the Old Lifeboat House alongside Ilfracombe's picturesque and historic harbour. The town is found on the dramatic North Devon coast 20 minutes drive from Barnstaple, just over an hours drive from Bude, set amongst the North Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
Come and explore War Horse Valley – its farming history, its people and its Wartime stories and of course the place where the story of Joey and Albert was born. Fantastic WW1 exhibition and replica trench, with an audio-visual presentation by award-winning children’s writer Michael Morpurgo. Loads for the children to do: tractor trailer rides, vintage farm machinery, watching the milking, feeding calves, meeting Joey the horse and lots of different farm animals. There’s an indoor kart track and picturesque farm trail and tearoom.
On your visit you’ll will see British and Asian Short Clawed Otters playing and being fed close at hand. Wallabies and Muntjac Deer roam the 21-acre grounds. There are Fallow Deer in a woodland enclosure, and you’ll come across Deer and Birds of Prey in the the wildwood. Check out the Meerkats from the walkway and see the Servals before walking to the Old Quarry and tranquil Quarry Pool. There are picnic areas and a fantastic Tea Room. The Centre, its conservation efforts and rehabilitation activities are funded entirely by the income received from visitors.

Each of the 12,000 collection items has its own story to tell. Stories about the battles that have been fought, weapons that were used or personal letters that were written on the battlefield. This former headquarters of the Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry houses more than three hundred years of military history, a library and conference and exposition rooms.Our Gift Shop sells a varied range of books, gifts, cards and souvenirs which chime with the museum’s themes. As well as our fantastic range of gift items, visitors can also purchase ice creams, fudge and bottled water. The Gift Shop is situated inside The Keep, at the entrance to the museum. Visitors to the shop are welcome to browse the shop without visiting the museum. All profits from the shop are used to support the charitable purposes of the museum.
Journey back in time at the Bodmin and Wenford Railway and experience the glorious era of steam travel on Cornwall's only full size railway still operated by steam locomotives. Passenger train services operate between February and December and run daily through the summer with many themed journeys and special events. Bodmin General has car parking facilities for our passengers. This FREE car park is sited directly adjacent to the station and available for the exclusive use of our own visitors and staff. Steamers Cafe at Bodmin General Station is open on all train operating days – serving a good variety of hot and cold drinks, Cornish Pasties, sausage rolls, freshly cut sandwiches, cakes, snacks and sweets. There is seating available inside and outside the cafe for customers. Along the platform, towards the signalbox, you will find a small Picnic Area, should you choose to bring your own food and drink with you during your visit. At Bodmin Parkway Station, the old Signalbox on the Down platform has been converted to a Café, which is operated by the Bodmin & Wenford Railway, providing a valuable service to main line travellers, but also to walkers and our own passengers. The Signalbox Cafe serves a range of hot and cold food, snacks and non-alcoholic drinks. A warm welcome is guaranteed……and the home made cakes have to be tasted to be believed!
