With the Atlantic facing north coast of Cornwall rating so highly for great waves and epic scenery, the Bude area and its wild surf beaches are a brilliant destination for surfing in Cornwall. Many European Champion surfers were born and raised in the waves of Bude.
There are not many places in the entire UK where it is possible to catch bass, carp and wild trout all in the space of a few miles, but with quality sea, coarse and fly angling all nearby, Bude offers some of the very best fishing in Cornwall. For fresh bait, tackle and up to date catch reports, a good bet is always Waterfront Fishing and Shooting. Do also note that apart from the sea, all fishing is strictly catch and release in Bude. We would also encourage the release of fish such as bass and mullet, which are slow growing and valuable recreational species.
The Bude Canal offers the closest and most sheltered location for Canoeing and Kayaking. Bigger waters such as the sea or Upper Tamar Lake also await the intrepid paddler, but we would highly recommend guidance for anyone but the highly experienced. There are also plenty of coaching sessions with all the gear provided at Upper Tamar Lake where it is also possible to launch your own craft with permission.
