Canoeing and Kayaking in Bude
Bude is an amazing and unique destination for both Canoeing and Kayaking. This is because we have environments to suit everyone from the first time paddler to the most expert thrill seeker!
The gorgeous Bude Canal (in the heart of Bude) is perfect for those wanting to learn canoeing or kayaking or just explore. Rich in history and wildlife this is one wonder of Bude you won’t want to miss. It is a real adventure to explore the whole canal and river being a near 5 mile return trip. There is even the opportunity to take part in a guided canoe tour of the canal, again suitable for everyone.
If you are more experienced kayaking on the sea can be really exhilarating, be aware strong currents can be unpredictable, not suitable for novices or those without knowledge of the tides. Have a go at surf kayaking in the breakers or sea kayak around rocky cliffs checking out the wildlife and unique rock formations but be sure you have the skills.
If this was not enough just 5 miles North of Bude is the stunning open water of Tamar Lake. Here to you can learn to paddle both kayaks and canoes or explore the lake and its hidden inlet.
If you have your own canoe / kayak and the necessary skills you can launch into the Sea, Bude Canal* and Tamar Lake* for independent adventure and fun.
