4 – 6 October 2019 Bude Sea Pool and Summerleaze Downs
A weekend of sound, light, music and art exploring the connection between coastal living and wellbeing
After sundown Bude Sea Pool comes alive with sound and light. From an intimate beach hut folk gig to outdoor artwork, this event features internationally acclaimed artist Ulf Pedersen, local shanty group the Bencoolen Wreckers and Cornish artists Timothy Crowley and Kate Ogley, plus more.
Visitors in the daytime can also take part in Sea Song Walks with Seamus Carey , step inside Martyn Ware (Heaven 17)’s beach hut for What Does The Sea Say?, plus take Time to Sit & Stare on coastal benches decorated by local artists. Plus, we take art to the South West Coast Path with flag designs by Budehaven School.
Through a series of briefings, talks and workshops REFLECT aims to bring people together to discuss their own lived experiences and connections to the coast. The project will culminate in a large-scale outdoor sound and light event. Each event will present the stories and findings from the local area in an iconic coastal location. Using the dramatic cliffs and 91-meter sea pool in Bude. REFLECT offers collaborators and spectators an opportunity to reflect on their own relationship with the sea and their mental health.
