SUMMARY:My Girl The River & Serious Child
DESCRIPTION:My Girl The River & Serious Child \nTwo brilliant artists from the worlds of Americana and British folk-pop join forces with double bassist Joe Hughes in a celebration of what brings them together. \n‘Serious Child’\n“I am about to utter the most fearsome words in folk\,” says Alan Young\, aka Serious Child. “This is a song about my grandmother … it’s a singalong” – Arts Republic\nSerious Child hails from an old beech wood in Sussex\, and draws from a range of acoustic influences from folk to pop to bossa nova. His pin-sharp lyrics explore the world around us with a poet’s ear for emotion and a comedian’s eye for everyday detail.\n“writes about Britain today in a way that is almost tactile… with wit\, style\, intelligence and bags of melody” ★★★★★ Spiral Earth \n‘My Girl The River’\nKris Wilkinson Hughes aka My Girl the River is a Louisiana native\, now based in the UK after a decade of songwriting in Nashville. She has recently released her third album\, Songs About Space\, to strong critical acclaim.\nAs a performer\, she is funny\, warm and fearless with a sackful of hook laden songs and a voice of sweet sugared espresso. You might find yourself singing along or shedding a tear on your journey. Love\, loss\, Louisiana and Hot Chicken are just some of the stops along the way.\n“A lovely mélange of Americana Roots music brings to mind Jason Isbell and Lucinda Williams…. exceptional songwriting” ★★★★ Paste Magazine \nAnnown\nAnnown are a Cornish contemporary folk duo who are inspired by the old Cornish tales and quirky histories which feature in their original songs. They have released 5 acclaimed albums to date\, several of which have been ‘Albums of the Week’ on local folk specialist radio shows. Some of their songs are or have been covered by other artists and vocal groups\, including The Countrymen\, The Red River Singers\, Valley Voices and the Tintagel Orpheus choir and maybe more!\nThey are regular performers at festivals in Cornwall-e.g.five times at the Cornwall Folk Festival!-who commented “These are the songs that everyone will be singing in 100 years’ time”\nTheir albums can be listened to and purchased on Bandcamp at Music | Annown and more info can be found at HOME | Annown: www.annown.co.uk ” \nUnreserved seating so come early and have a drink!  Please bring cash for a raffle to support a local good cause. \n£12.50 (£15 on the door) | Doors open 6pm | Performance 7.30pm\nTickets with NO booking fee available from Bude Tourist Information Centre

SUMMARY:Paul Jones & Dave Kelly
DESCRIPTION:Ruggedly durable and timeless\, the Blues is perhaps more popular today than it has ever been. Young musicians still cut their teeth on its enticing\, 12-bar appeal\, but its real rewards\, true virtuosity\, poise and knowledge\, only come with age. \nFounder members of The Blues Band\, Paul Jones and Dave Kelly’s tangled and colourful roots go way back into the true undergrowth of the tradition. As well as their own original material\, they not only know and perform the work of the greats\, ranging from Howling’ Wolf\, John Lee Hooker through to Sonny Boy Williamson – they actually played alongside them\, and enjoyed their friendship. After over a quarter century as presenter of his BBC Radio 2 R&B show\, as a thrilling singer and harmonica maestro\, what Paul Jones doesn’t know about the Blues can be written on a pinhead. The same can be said about Europe’s leading bluesman\, Dave Kelly. He’s played with them all\, including legends such as James Burton and Buddy Guy. Superb blues vocals combined with guitar virtuosity have elevated Dave Kelly into the higher echelon of international blues performers\, where he truly belongs. \nA live acoustic set by this dynamic duo is an occasion you’ll remember. If you’re a true Blues fan\, everything you need is here. \nUnreserved seating. Bar/restaurant/bar snacks available.  Cash raffle to support a local good cause.  Book early for this rare intimate performance by two titans of the Blues. \n£30 | Doors open 7pm | Performance 8pm\nTickets with NO booking fee available from Bude Tourist Information Centre

SUMMARY:Parody of The Rings
DESCRIPTION:What happens when a cinema’s Lord of the Rings marathon goes terribly wrong?\nAt the local cinema\, all hell breaks loose when the ushers misplace the DVDs of The Lord of the Rings trilogy – every single copy! With only the soundtracks left in hand\, the team of hapless ushers must somehow improvise an entire three-film saga in front of a live audience. \nGet ready for an uproarious evening of comedy\, chaos\, and utter nonsense\, as they attempt to recreate the epic tale of hobbits\, elves\, and orcs – without any visuals\, any planning\, or any clue what they’re doing. \nIt’s a show that’s more fun than a barrel of hobbits\, and definitely more chaotic than a Gandalf speech. If you’ve ever wanted to see Gollum fight a battle with sound effects\, or Gandalf desperately trying to remember what happens next\, then you’re in for a hilarious treat!\nAge Advisory: 12yrs+.  70 mins duration.  Bar/food available.  Please bring cash for a raffle to support a local good cause \nAdult: £15 / Under 18:  £12| Doors open 7pm | Performance 8pm\nTickets with NO booking fee available from Bude Tourist Information Centre

SUMMARY:Steve Knightley
DESCRIPTION:North Coast Arts is delighted to be part of Steve’s special tour of church venues. A memorable afternoon at Bude Methodist Church awaits those who book early.\nRefreshments available. \nPlease bring cash for a raffle to support a local good cause. \nSanctuary: Songs from Sacred Spaces\nAway from the clamour and energy of The Winter Yards Band\, Steve Knightley’s spring tour reveals a very different side to his music. Sanctuary – Songs in Sacred Spaces is a calm\, immersive and contemplative series of performances created specifically for churches\, chapels and historic venues. Drawing on influences from Bob Dylan to William Blake\, from the English folk tradition to his own finely crafted compositions\, Steve explores songs of history\, landscape and human experience — material that resonates naturally in rooms shaped by centuries of song and prayer.\nThese concerts will be reflective\, ambient and atmospheric\, inviting audiences to listen more deeply in spaces where sound lingers and attention settles. Each evening also features special guest Dan Salvatore\, whose hand-forged handpan brings a meditative\, bell-like presence — an instrument designed to evoke harmony\, balance and relaxation. Together\, Steve and Dan create a unique sound world where poetry\, melody and place converge\, offering audiences a musical sanctuary at the start of spring. \n£25 | Doors open 3pm | Performance 4pm\nTickets with NO booking fee available from Bude Tourist Information Centre
