Event promotion for non-members

We are pleased to support a wide range of local events and help visitors discover what is happening in Bude.  Non-members can submit irregular events for free promotion through VisitBude, provided the event is not part of a regular weekly programme.

An irregular event is typically a one-off, occasional, seasonal or special event. This may include events such as festivals, workshops, performances, talks, community events, fundraisers, markets, exhibitions, special activity days or limited-run events.

Events that take place every week, or form part of an ongoing schedule are classed as regular events and would require VisitBude membership or a paid promotional option.

Depending on the event and the information supplied, free promotion may include:

• An event listing on the VisitBude online events calendar
• Event image, description, location and website or booking link
• Promotion through the Bude Tourist Information Centre, where staff help visitors find things to do
• Display of event posters or flyers at the TIC, subject to space
• Potential inclusion in VisitBude social media, blogs or eNewsletters, subject to relevance and availability
• Tag or collaborate with @VisitBude in your Facebook and Instagram posts. You can also add @VisitBude as a co-host on your Facebook event. We have over 20,000 followers, so this can help your event reach a much larger local and visitor audience.

When submitting your event, please take a little time to write a clear, useful and appealing description. The information you provide is what visitors and locals will use to decide whether your event is right for them, so a good description can make a real difference.

Try to include all the key details people may need before deciding to attend, such as what the event involves, who it is suitable for, whether booking is required, ticket prices, timings, location, accessibility information and anything visitors should bring or know in advance.

A short or vague description is less likely to encourage people to come along. Instead, aim to give enough detail to help people picture the event, understand what makes it worth attending and feel confident about making the time to visit.
