Autumn in the Bude Area
As the Summer fades into Autumn there are many great things to look forward to as the nights draw in and the leaves begin to fall…
Apple Day at Clovelly is a wonderful chance to have your own apples pressed at the Visitor Centre and enjoy games and crafts such as apple bobbing and stamping. A farmers market and fun harvest hunt and spooky stories will keep the children (and grown-ups!) entertained!
The end of October brings darker nights as the clocks change which is perfect for celebrating Halloween and Bonfire Night!
The Big Sheep is primed for their annual ‘Fun by Day Scary by Night’ Halloween event which kicks off on 19th October and extends until 1st Novemeber. The Monsters Ball Todder take over – especially designed to entertain the little ones takes place every day from 28th October – 1st November with the Monsters Ball every day at 11am. For bigger kids the ‘Fun by Day’ activities are on from 10-5 from 19th October to 1st November with magic shows everyday 21st-25th October. The ‘Scary by Night’ evening opening is back again this year with spooks and frights after dark on 24th-26th and 29th-31st October.
At The Milky Way is spooky fun all the way…
This Halloween half term at The Milky Way families are invited to enrol in the very special School For Witches and Wizards! From Saturday 19th October to Thursday 31st October 2019 there’ll be lots of extra Halloween activities to enjoy – all designed to be fun rather than scary, and all included in the entrance fee or annual pass! Your little horrors will love the wand making, spell writing & casting, broomstick riding (for little ones) and potion making in our School for Witches and Wizards – and can also enjoy the themed show and have fun on the special spooky swamp dodgems sessions.
Down at Poundstock Gildhouse the Pumpkin Festival is not to be missed on October 26th and 27th where you’ll find refreshments and fun as well as pumpkins galore!
The end of October marks the end of the sailing calendar for ferries to Lundy Island but don’t despair – this means the helicopter service kicks into action from Hartland Point!
For Bonfire night you can’t beat the Bude Rugby Club firework display – accompanied, of course, by tasty barbecue food and the bar will be open! Friday 2nd November from 6:30pm.
The Big Sheep Bonfire Party is also well known in the area comprising a toddler’s firework display at 6pm as well as the main display at 7:45pm.
