Named after the family who farmed at West Woolley for generations, this newly built cottage is set apart from the main courtyard, giving it a lovely secluded feel. As soon as you step though the front door you’ll feel yourself start to unwind. With its sunny interior, wooden floors and views over the rolling fields, there’s a real sense of peace. Sink into the big corner sofa with a glass of wine or enjoy a soak in the bath. The sleek kitchen has everything you need to conjure up a feast – just the thing after a long country walk. Perfect for couples, Shepherds has a tranquil bedroom with a huge and hugely comfortable super-king bed. It’s spacious yet cosy too, and there’s room for a cot in the bedroom (suitable for infants under 2 years old). The combination of a heat pump, solar thermal and extra insulation means you can be snug and smug – knowing it’s eco-friendly. Plus, because it’s all on one level it’s great for anyone who has difficulty with stairs or for babies who enjoy crawling or furniture-cruising! There’s a seating area just outside the cottage, which is a real suntrap and a great spot to sit with cup of coffee serenaded by the birds. Secluded from the other cottages, The Stables has been thoughtfully converted to provide every comfort for our guests. The luxurious interior is furnished to an exceptional standard. Twice a week, on Sundays and Wednesdays, kids (and big kids) can join Ruth for a feed-the-animals experience, getting up close with pigs, sheep, alpacas, horses, rabbits, goats, chickens, and the cat. Quaint and full of character, Round House was once the Gate Keeper’s Lodge and is thought to be the oldest building on the estate. Detached and set slightly apart from the other cottages, it offers guests both privacy and easy access to the indoor pool and amenities. With its unusual shaped windows, low beams, and centuries-old charm, this is a truly unique place to stay. The ground floor features an inviting open-plan lounge and dining area with a wood-burning stove, and a beautifully appointed Shaker-style kitchen complete with a sea view from the window. Also downstairs is a luxurious bathroom with corner bath and integral power shower. Upstairs, reached via a narrow staircase with low beams (mind your head!), there are two bedrooms: a master with king-size bed and glorious views over the valley and out to sea, and a second bedroom with bunk beds, ideal for children. This room can also accommodate a cot, making the cottage perfect for a family of four or five. Out of season, Round House is equally popular as a romantic retreat for two, with its secluded setting and cosy atmosphere. Woodlands Manor Farm offers two luxurious glamping yurt options for guests: Budhyn (Cornish for “meadow”) and Fenton (Cornish for “spring”). The yurts have a diameter of 5.8 metres and a central height of 3 metres. Each yurt is equipped with a super king-size (6ft) double bed and two single beds, as well as a high-end Nordpeis Orion stove at the centre. The beds are made up with crisp white linen, and each guest is provided with two pillows, a hand towel, and a fluffy bath sheet. Complimentary broadband Wi-Fi is available, and each yurt features a large picnic table just outside the door. Each yurt has its own kitchen area, which includes a fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, electric kettle, and a two-ring induction hob. There is also a folding table and chairs, allowing guests to dine indoors if it’s raining. The kitchen area is equipped with two USB charging points for laptops, tablets, and phones. Each yurt is provided with a Weber BBQ and a covered outdoor area, so the BBQ can be used even in the rain. In addition to the kitchen facilities, each yurt has its own washing-up area, complete with frying pans, saucepans, cooking utensils, plates, bowls, mugs, glasses, and cutlery—essentially, everything you need to prepare and enjoy your meals.
