About Us
Our Sustainable Tourism project, The Bude Way, brings together businesses, the community and visitors in the wider Bude area, to collaborate in building resilience and reducing emissions in the visitor economy.
Tourism supports 73% of local businesses and 40% of our jobs, while generating around 50% of our community’s carbon footprint. These factors and our geographical isolation, far from the extent of public services enjoyed in other parts of Cornwall and the UK, make our local economy highly vulnerable to climate change.
This project is being delivered by Bude Area Tourist Board, funded by a grant from The National Lottery Climate Action Fund to Bude Climate Partnership.

Our FREE carbon calculator is now live!
The Sustainable Tourism Project has built this tourism specific carbon calculator for businesses which is freely available unlike many carbon calculators for industries that are behind paywalls.
Our tool helps calculate the total amount of greenhouse gas emissions, usually in terms of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e), produced directly and indirectly by a business’s activities. These tools are crucial for businesses aiming to reduce their environmental impact, comply with regulations, and improve sustainability.
