Bude for an afternoon

What can you accomplish in an afternoon? Quite a lot, if you’re keen to explore! Perhaps the most obvious starting point is the Bude Tourist Information Centre (EX23 8LE). From here you have easy parking and a lovely short walk along Bude Canal. Make it a lazy or a longer amble as you please- but if you head east at Truscott’s Bridge you will find Bude Marsh. Keep on south and after a couple of miles you can reward yourself with coffee and cake at The Weir.

Alternately, you could also head to the beach for an afternoon in the sun. There is easy parking by the Beach Office (EX23 8HN), from where you can book a beach hut or happily find your own perfect spot. Perhaps a picnic in the dunes to the south, or do you fancy a paddle in Bude Sea Pool.

Should you arrive on a wet afternoon, never fear because there’s still plenty to see and do. Get a taste for local history (and homemade cakes) at Bude Castle or venture into town for a taste of our crafty, tasty and independent shops and eateries (see our shopaholics and eating out sections).
