The best place to stay in Bude

At the Bude Tourist Information Centre, we’re continually asked where the best place to stay in Bude is.  It’s a really hard question to answer, because we all like different things and Bude really does have hundreds of places to stay in all sorts of locations, of varying quality, price and size.

All of the accommodation listed on the VisitBude website is categorised (click here), allowing you to select the accommodation type and location of your choice.

Browsing the VisitBude website is easy, but the sheer number of holiday park, cottage, guest house, hotel and B&B accommodation listed in Bude is overwhelming.  Because of this, every month, hundreds of people call the Bude Tourist Information Centre for personal advice and recommendations.  We know each and everyone of the properties we advertise!

Need some inspiration?

The Falcon Hotel is Bude’s oldest Hotel and offers guests a ‘traditional hotel stay’.  Visitors love the Falcon Hotel which is often referred to as having Old World charm, which is what makes it so different to the other hotels in Bude.  The restaurant and bar is open to non-residents, so there’s always a great atmosphere.

Wood Farm Holiday Park is mentioned because to many peoples perception, it breaks the mould.  They don’t have bingo and cabaret or a large club-house.  Instead, they offer Bude’s visitors top-end and luxurious holiday homes.  So luxurious, it’s hard to believe they are ‘caravans’!  Add to these a couple of modern self-caterinig houses, a bar and restaurant, woodland walks, a lake and sea views, it’s easy to see why those who may not have a holiday park stay in mind are quick to book!  Many of the holiday homes at Wooda are pet-friendly too.

Falcon Mews is a beautiful, recently converted property on the bank of the Bude Canal.  It’s so central, you need not use your car until its time to go home.  Grooms Cottage sleeps four and The Coach House sleeps six.  Combined, they offer large family groups a great place to stay, with the bonus of being able to split the group for privacy and comfort, yet have direct internal access to each cottage.  Grooms Cottage is dog-friendly too.

Broomhill Manor is another firm favourite.  Visitors can choose from a mix of luxurious houses, cottages and an apartment in the Manor House with direct access to indoor and outdoor swimming pools, bar, gym, sauna, tennis courts, horse riding and countryside walks.  The cottages at Broomhill Manor are traditional in decor, and many are pet-friendly.

Kennacott Court is amazing.  They offer a mix of houses and cottages with a variety of facilities such as swimming pool, tennis courts and badminton, but also a par 22 golf course!  The cottages at Kennacott Court are traditional in decor, and many are pet-friendly.

Finally, Wooldown Farm deserves a mention.  Wooldown really is something else.  Apart from two large houses for families, they provide accommodation for couples.  The attention to detail and interior design is amongst the best in Devon and Cornwall.  Think of granite, wood, copper baths, glass, contemporary furnishings and unobstructed sea and countryside views…

The staff are available at the Bude Tourist Information Centre every day from 10am.  We don’t charge a booking fee, and the prices available are not inflated to cover high commission fees.  To book, we ask you to pay a 6% holding fee.  This 6% is a commission which we earn for each booking.

Charging the local accommodation providers such a small commission results us being able to offer our visitors the best selection of accommodation in Bude at the best price.  Did you know that when you use the major booking websites and cottage agencies, the property owner will pay upwards of 20% in commission?

Why do we charge a commission at all?  That’s easy to answer.  The Bude Tourist Information Centre is 100% self sufficient.  We receive no funding from Cornwall Council or our Town Council.  The large gift shop and cafe in the Tourist Information Centre provide an income to open the office every day, and allows us to send our printed holiday brochures to everyone who requests them, answer hundreds of phone calls, emails, letters and online chats with potential visitors every month.

So, please do support us and book your accommodation through the Tourist Information Centre and VisitBude website.  If you use us, we can continue to employ our great team of staff to greet and advise Bude’s visitors.  We’re the Best Tourist Information Centre in Cornwall, and Bude is the Best UK Coastal Resort.
