Embark on a leisurely clifftop stroll along the stunning coast at Morwenstow, where breath-taking views, historic landmarks, and abundant wildlife await. Highlights including the beautiful Saxon-era church and the iconic Hawker’s Hut, once the refuge of the eccentric Rev. Hawker. Complete the walk with a Cornish Cream Tea at the 18th century Rectory Farm Tearooms.

Simple walking instructions are included, but we advise you use this route alongside the Ordnance Survey OS190 map.

Written Directions:

  1. Begin your adventure by passing through the lychgate into the churchyard from Rectory Farm Tearooms.  Take the path to the right of the vicarage, descending into Morwenna Valley.
  2. Follow the waymarkers signed South West Coast Path, continuing along the valley through woodland, scrub, and open grassland until you reach Vicarage Cliff and the coast path.
  3. Turn left onto the coast path, ascending to the farmland plateau above.
  4. Continue along the clifftop towards Hawker’s Hut, descending the cliff to the National Trust’s smallest property, Hawkers Hut.
  5. Continue along the coast path, passing through another gate into Tidna Shute Valley.
  6. At the base of the hill, turn inland and explore the farmland and valleys of maritime heathland, home to a variety of rare species.
  7. Follow the waymarker left, walking through Tidna Valley and woodland until you reach a waymarker directing you back uphill towards Rectory Farm.
  8. Cross several stiles and a farm track, following the signs for the tearooms where you started.
