Romance is a very individual thing so here are some ideas for getting romantic in Bude, chocolates and flowers are optional.
With 8 fantastic beaches we’ve got golden sand, sunsets and star gazing.
You can’t beat a romantic stroll along the shore line holding hands as the sun goes down. Don’t forget a bottle of something in your ruck sack, swap the Kendall Mint cake for a Cornish pasty or maybe a picnic and write “I love you” in the sand and you will have your loved one eating out of your hand forever!
It won’t be difficult to find a favourite spot to watch the sun go down and once you do you can come back year after year.
Sitting on a bench doesn’t sound very romantic but some of Bude’s benches have stunning views. The benches on Summerleaze Downs over looking Summerleaze beach and Bude Seapool are a fantastic place to watch the sun go down or gaze up at the milky way. If you look across the water towards the Breakwater you will see benches on the opposite side just below the “Pepper pot” at Compass point, these give an equally amazing view and just goes to prove you don’t need to blow the budget to be romantic.
If you want something a little more comfortable book a beach hut we’ve got Deluxe 50 on Summerleaze Green for adults only. We’ve tried to think of everything including wine glasses and cosy blankets to snuggle under when the sun goes down. There are plenty of other beach huts to chose from in different locations.
Maybe you want to push the boat out. How about hiring a rowing boat and row along Bude’s beautiful canal or take to the water with a sight seeing trip with Independent charters and see the coast line from the seaward side. A trip to Lundy Island combines a boat trip and a visit to this beautiful protected island, keep a look out for dolphins and seals on route.
Away from the sea we’ve got some spectacular gardens to wandering in and activities to bond over.
Instead of giving flowers why not visit a garden. Docton Mill has award winning wild flower gardens as well as a river walk, the home-made cakes are delicious, and the choice of teas will suit all pallets. Clovelly Court Gardens are open all year round and the carefully tended kitchen gardens are a blaze with colour in the summer.
Every day life often means you are like passing ships in the night but the great thing about holidays is spending time together. A great chance to try something you’ve never done before. Our activities page is jam packed with ideas from surfing to Segway, Coasteering, cycling and canoeing, Stand Up paddle boarding, horse riding or maybe something different like Hawking. Shared memories that will stay with you forever.
If you want to gaze into each other’s eyes over diner the Falcon Hotel or The Beach at Bude offer fine dining. For something a little different the home made cakes and cream Teas get rave reviews at The Barge just remember it’s jam first in Cornwall. Take a drive out to Cornish Coasts only 5 miles south of Bude not only is their food locally sources, they have stunning views and the farm shop has a wide range of local produce and gifts. The Rebel Cinema is just down the road for a rom-com and popcorn.
