Chestnut Cottage is the largest of the Trevalgas cottages, comfortably sleeping up to six guests (plus cot), and is perfect for families or small groups seeking a peaceful Cornish escape near Bude. Set in a tranquil valley location with lovely views towards Stratton, the cottage features a fully enclosed, suntrap garden with patio seating and a brick-built barbecue – ideal for relaxed outdoor dining. Allocated parking is located adjacent to the cottage, and guests can also enjoy access to the on-site 12m heated indoor swimming pool.

The spacious open-plan living and dining area offers plenty of room to relax, complete with a wood burner and a basket of logs for cosy evenings. The large, newly fitted kitchen is fully equipped with modern appliances including a dishwasher and microwave. Entertainment is provided with a Smart TV with Freeview, DVD player, and CD radio with iPod/iPhone dock. Patio doors open directly onto the enclosed garden. A cloakroom with WC and basin is also located on this level.

Upstairs you’ll find a master bedroom with a double bed and private en-suite shower room, plus two twin bedrooms with ample storage. The main bathroom includes an over-bath shower, airing cupboard and heated towel rail. Two towels are provided per guest, and family-friendly extras such as a cot and stair gates are available.

The enclosed garden features a patio, lawn area, all-weather garden furniture and a brick-built barbecue, making it a wonderful space to unwind while enjoying the valley views and sunshine.

Guests staying at Chestnut Cottage can enjoy a range of excellent shared facilities designed for both relaxation and family fun.

Heated Indoor Swimming Pool
Trevalgas features a superb 12.3m (40ft) heated indoor swimming pool, maintained at a constant depth of 4ft (1.27m), making it ideal for families and less confident swimmers. The pool is exclusively for guests staying in the self-catering cottages, so it is rarely crowded. Male and female changing rooms with hot showers are provided, and the pool is free to use.

Opening hours are typically from 8am, closing at 8pm during peak summer, 7pm in early summer and September, and 6pm for the rest of the year (closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day).

Children’s Play Area & Recreation Field
A large recreation field provides plenty of space for ball games, while the children’s adventure playground includes a Wendy House, climbing frame, swings (including a toddler swing), spring riders, a crawl-through tractor and a slide. Access is via the car park side of the leisure building (note: dogs are not permitted in the recreation field).

Games Room
The on-site games room offers table tennis and pool tables (small charge per game). Table tennis bats and balls are supplied in each cottage, and a cupboard in the games room contains a selection of books and board games available for guests to borrow.

Laundry Facilities
A shared laundry room provides three automatic washing machines, large-capacity tumble dryers and laundry baskets (charges apply). Each cottage is also equipped with an iron, ironing board and its own clothes line.

Free Wi-Fi
Complimentary fibre Wi-Fi is available across the entire site, including within the cottages, gardens, leisure building and car park.

Defibrillator
For added peace of mind, a defibrillator is installed on site, with guidance available from emergency services if required.
