Bus services in Bude

Busses provide a cost-effective means of travel.  Compared to taxis or rental cars, bus fares are often more affordable, allowing travellers to save money while exploring the wider Bude area.

The accessibility of Bude by bus from Exeter via Okehampton or by combining a bus between Bude and Okehampton and a train service between Okehampton and Exeter, provides convenient transportation options for visitors and locals alike.

Here are some hints and tips for using these services.

  • Option 1. Catch the 6A bus from Exeter Bus station in the direction of Okehampton. Once at Okehampton the bus number will change to the 6 bus and then travel onto Bude. Please note that while most services are through services. I.E you stay on the bus and the driver changes the number. Some are not and will require you to change busses at Okehampton train station. The through services are marked with a “C” on the downloadable timetable below.

 

  • Option 2. From Exeter bus station make your way to Exeter St David’s train station. Many local Exeter buses stop there, or you can walk from the bus station to Exeter Central train station and catch a train to Exeter St David’s. Once you reach Exeter St David’s train station you can catch a train to Okehampton train station. At Okehampton you can catch the 6 bus to Bude.

 

Tips: option 1

  • The convenience of staying on the bus if you chose one of the connecting services.
  • Helpful if you’ve got lots of luggage.
  • Peace of mind about missing a connection.
  • Up until the end of 2024 the UK Government is funding reduced bus travel and single journeys are capped at £2.

Tips: option 2

  • Combining the bus and train will shorten your journey and it’s possible to coordinate the two without lengthy waiting times.
  • It’s a very scenic train journey between Okehampton and Exeter.

Once you get to Bude, heading south on the 95 bus is a breeze.  With regular schedules and multiple stops along the coast, via Widemouth Bay, Crackington Haven, Boscastle, Tintagel and terminating at Wadebridge for connects to Padstow. busses provide flexibility and freedom allowing you to visit various towns and villages at your own pace.  Furthermore, the journey offers panoramic views of the scenery along the route, allowing you to enjoy the landscape and take in the sights.  Because you’re not behind the wheel, you can enjoy a pint of Cornish Ale in one of the local pubs!

Single Fare just £2 in 2024

Great news for bus passengers!
