Whether you are sitting on our deck overlooking the canal and watching the world go by or taking our boat and kayaks for a row, the Old Laundry is a lovely base for your Cornish holiday.

This unusual, spacious 3 bedroom house is located in the converted Stapletons’ Shipyard building on the Bude canal. This interesting stone property is over 200 years old and where 19th century ketches and schooners were once built. The arrival of the railway saw the canal fall out of use and with it the shipyard declined. Bude became a popular holiday destination and The Steam Laundry opened to serve local hotels and guest houses before itself closing and the building being converted to the homes you see today.

This lovely location on the Bude canal, is a short level walk from local beaches, pubs, restaurants, town centre shops and cliff top walks.

The house has three bedrooms, two bathrooms a spacious kitchen/diner and sitting/games room. There is a private deck, rowing boat, two kayaks and private patio to rear of house, free WiFi, four smart TVs and parking for two cars in a private car park.

Nearby is a post office and convenience store selling lovely freshly baked bread and a selection of handy groceries. Also close by is the Bude tourist information office. Only a short walk away are Summerleaze and Crocklets beaches, both popular with families and surfers.

The Beaches offer long stretches of sand and many rock pools to explore. The Town has many independently owned gift and clothes shops as well as chain stores and four supermarkets. Bude has an excellent golf course, tennis courts, mini golf and many other outdoor facilities. There is also an indoor swimming pool, bowling alley and large ball park for younger children.

A fantastic stay at a wonderful property, we have all enjoyed the rowing boat and kayaks.  The boys all had fun fishing and lots of fun on the beach body boarding and swimming in the sea pool.  We all have enjoyed meals out at The Falcon Hotel and Olive Tree.  We all look forward to staying at the Steam Laundry in the future.

We had a fantastic holiday at No 3, Old Steam Laundry. All our needs were catered for – the first time we’ve stayed anywhere and not had to go out and buy something. The canal provided daily entertainment both on the water and on the decking. Our dog loved being in Bude – swimming in the canal and the sea. We would recommend No 3 to anyone – children are well catered for with a variety of games etc. Bridget, the owner, was great. She provided all the information we needed prior to and during our holiday.

Another wonderful stay at the Old Steam Laundry, this time with family rather than group of friends. House was just as perfect for everyone: teenagers loved the kayaks, the Wii and having space to get away from the rest of us, younger one enjoyed the puzzles and games and feeding the ducks. Beautiful walks on the coast, the beach and on the nature reserve. So peaceful at the house and yet close to everything we needed or wanted to do in the town. Thanks again.

Wonderful stay again. Loved the rowing boat and kayaks as well as all the facilities. Thanks so much.
