One of the original mariner’s cottages on Breakwater Road, Rosehip Cottage (number 11) sits alongside the famous Bude Canal, offering spectacular views over Summerleaze Beach and Bude Castle Mount. Our picturesque cottage is a few yards from the sea lock gates, giving direct access to the ever popular sandy Summerleaze Beach and Bude Sea Pool.
At one end of Breakwater Road is the Falcon Hotel (great for ‘overflow’ guests!) and the famous Brendon Arms, both are great family eateries. The other end of Breakwater Road leads to the Victorian breakwater, Tommy’s Pit, the lock gates and harbour and the South West Coastal Path leading to ‘The Pepperpot’ watchtower and on further to Widemouth Bay.

Queen size double bed in master bedroom with window seat overlooking the canal.
Two good sized double bedrooms overlooking the garden, convertible twin/double beds with mattresses in a choice of grades to allow you to find the bed that is most comfortable for you.
Sitting room with wood burning stove, sofa and sofa bed, 40” TV with Netflix app (use with your own account) and Bluray/DVD player.
Dining room with table and chairs for 6, window seat and wood burning stove. Fully equipped modern kitchen with oven/ grill, toaster, kettle, blender, fridge and dishwasher.
Bathroom upstairs, with separate bath, shower and toilet. Downstairs shower room with toilet
Central heating (included) and two wood burning stoves (fuel not included).
New washing machine and tumble dryer plus fridge freezer in the garage.
Outside: The extensive garden includes:
Access from the front along the side of the garage and from the kitchen.
A sheltered groundfloor courtyard area with tap – suitable for changing into/out of wetsuits etc. Steps leading up to a patio area with table and chairs for six, large parasol and Weber BBQ: We ask that you clean the BBQ at the end of your stay to leave it ready for the next guests.
100’ lawn with sun loungers. Three apple trees with double hammock. Gate at the end of the garden giving access to the South West Coastal path and The Pepperpot.
Children of all ages are very welcome. Highchairs and travel cots are available on request. There are no stairgates in the cottage, parents can bring their own portable stairgates if they wish.
The lower patio has a gate at the bottom of the steps that lead to the upper garden. Parents should take care to ensure that young children are supervised at all times.
Laundry: Bed linen bath and hand towels are provided and changed at the end of each week. Six beach towels are provided and are changed at the end of your stay. Cleaning of the cottage at the end of each week is included in the rental fee.
There is parking for one car at the front and public parking on the road.
