In 2025, we printed and distributed 35,000 free Bude Maps, making them the most widely used visitor resources in the town. Mostly collected from the Tourist Information Centre, Summerleaze Beach Office and local accommodation providers who leave copies for their guests, the map is used throughout visitors’ stays.

Why advertise on the free Bude Map?

In 2025, we printed and distributed 35,000 copies of the official Bude Map, which are given out free to visitors throughout the year. These doubled sided A4 maps are widely used by holidaymakers while they explore the town, making them one of the most practical and most used visitor resources we produce.

In addition to being taken directly by visitors, many holiday cottage owners and accommodation providers also take copies to leave in their properties for guests to use during their stay. This extends the reach of the map even further, ensuring your advert is seen by new visitors as soon as they arrive and throughout their time in Bude.

Unlike single-use leaflets, the Bude Map is kept and referred to repeatedly during a visitor’s stay, and often taken home afterwards. This means your advert isn’t seen just once, but multiple times.

Where is the Bude Map distributed?

Primarily, the map is distributed through the Tourist Information Centre (open 10am to 4pm every day, and available to collect in the foyer at other times), from our Beach Office at Summerleaze and local accommodation providers, placing your business directly in the hands of people who are already in Bude and actively making spending decisions. Being featured on an official VisitBude publication also adds credibility and trust, as visitors recognise it as a reliable and locally endorsed guide.

Yes. We can adapt the styling and colour scheme of the Bude Map to complement your advert and align with your brand. This creates a more cohesive, eye-catching presentation and helps your business stand out while still maintaining the overall usability and clarity of the map for visitors.

How long will the maps last?

It’s difficult to give an exact timeframe, as distribution varies significantly throughout the year. During the quieter winter months, we may distribute just 20 maps in a day, whereas during peak periods we can hand out several hundred.

Because the maps are given free to visitors and also supplied to local accommodation providers, usage depends heavily on seasonal demand, visitor numbers and weather conditions.

We can order print runs of between 1,000 and 5,000 maps; larger quantities generally provide a longer overall lifespan.

What size advert do I get on the Bude Map?

The advert space on the Bude Map measures 12.5 cm x 21 cm, providing a large, prominent area to showcase your business to visitors as they use the map throughout their stay.

As your advert is placed directly onto the Bude Map during our design process, you do not need to supply print borders, crop marks or any specific print settings. Simply provide your artwork at the correct dimensions in high-resolution format (.pdf is best) , and we will handle the layout and integration to ensure it fits seamlessly within the overall map design.

How much does it cost to advertise on the free Bude Map?

Advertising on the Free Bude Map offers exceptional value for reaching visitors at the point they are actively exploring the town. Depending on the print run, your advert is placed directly into the hands of between 1,000 and 5,000 visitors, as well as being left in holiday accommodation for guests to use throughout their stay.

At 1,000 copies, the cost works out at around 25p per map. As print quantities increase, the cost per impression drops significantly — to approximately 15p per map at 2,000 copies, around 12p at 3,000 copies, 10p at 4,000 copies and just 9p per map at 5,000 copies.

This represents highly targeted, repeated exposure in a trusted visitor guide that is used daily during a stay in Bude and often taken home afterwards. Compared to many forms of print or digital advertising, the Bude Map provides long-lasting visibility at a very low cost per potential customer reached.
