There is free, on-street parking along The Strand, with maximum stay restrictions of one hour from 9am to 6pm. This means from 6am until 9am, parking is free and unrestricted.
The closest car park is The Crescent, at the Tourist Information Centre. It’s a two minute walk and parking is free from Midnight (4pm in the Winter) until 9am, and pay-and-display at other times. This is probably the best car park to use, as it isn’t too dark, and there are residential houses just opposite.
There’s a Town Council car park at the Parkhouse Centre, and along the river bank by the Methodist Church. The area is well lit, but not overlooked.
Approximately five minutes walk away is the Summerleaze Beach car park. Like The Crescent, this is a Cornwall Council car park. However, at night the car park is dark, has little through-traffic and is not overlooked.
Before you arrive…
- Register with ‘JustPark‘ so you can pay for your parking via phone.
- If you have a Blue Badge, you may be able to register with Cornwall Council to get free parking
- If you’re using the pay-and-display machine, bring plenty of change. The machines do not give change and take coins or card payment.
