Fun activities and attractions for kids
There are plenty of places to take the kids in Bude. Aside from the lure of beaches, buckets and spades you will find several safe play areas. There are also some great short walks with plenty to see and do for those with shorter legs and lots of curiosity. It needn’t cost an arm and a leg either, with the town and surrounding area boasting several free activities for kids in Cornwall.
The ‘Pirate Ship’ play area, Crooklets Beach: Conveniently situated close to the child and dog-friendly Rosie’s Kitchen, this fun play area means big kids can sup a well-earned cup of coffee, while the little people let off steam.
Bude Playpark: A well-equipped spot, with safe play apparatus for younger children, the grassy playpark is a hound free haven. Ideal for picnics or football, you’ll find it right behind the Tourist Information Centre. Don’t forget to pop into the Centre find out about all the nature, craft and beach events, too.
Bude Canal towpath: The flat towpath is easy going with pushchairs. Take some bread to feed to the ducks whilst watching the rowing boats. A longer walk offers even more to see as you pass the Green Flag Nature Reserve, and eventually reach the pretty village of Marmchurch.
The tarmac path to Summerleaze Downs is also a super option for little legs and pushchairs, this route runs between Summerleaze and Crooklets beaches. Pack a ball, frizbee or kite – there’s plenty of space as well as gorgeous views over the sea and harbour.
