The Crescent Car Park at the Bude Tourist Information Centre (EX23 8LE) now features an overflow area ideal for motorhome and campervan parking in Bude. As part of a pilot scheme, you can now park overnight and sleep in your vehicle, similar to Aires in France.
Cornwall Council’s parking tariff requires visitors to pay for each space their vehicle occupies. However, the overflow area offers large spaces, so you might only need to purchase one ticket! This pilot scheme which is being trialled by Cornwall Council allows overnight parking in the overflow area at The Crescent Car Park in Bude, which is conveniently located next to Bude Canal, many of Bude’s great eateries and is only a few minutes’ walk to Summerleaze beach.
Suitable for:
• Fully self-contained motorhomes and for parking only. Vehicles need to be 6 metres apart and no BBQ’s, awnings, picnic tables or chairs or generators are to be used. (See image below for conditions of use.)
• Maximum stay two nights no return within 48 hours
• No advance bookings. Overnight tickets need to be purchased from one of the 3 machines in the Crescent carpark. However, you can still use the Just Park App for daytime tickets.
• Available Now
• April 1st to October 31st, 2024 (6pm to 9am) – £21
• November 1st to 31st March 2025 (6pm to 9am) – £15.80
The Crescent carpark is the only car park offering overnight sleeping in the designated area. It’s not possilbe to park a motorhome between the hours of 11pm and 9am in any other area of the carpark or any of the carparks operated by Cornwall Council in the Bude area.
Advice on general motorhome parking
During school holidays, we strongly advise that you do not drive a motorhome or campervan larger than a minibus into Summerleaze Beach car park – it’s easy to get into the car park but can be very difficult to get out if cars are parked badly!
For alternative daytime parking, if you have a large motorhome or van, please consider the spacious grass area available at Crooklets Car Park (EX23 8NE). This area not only provides more space but also doesn’t have marked bays, so you only need to purchase one ticket. In other car parks, if you use two spaces, you need to buy two tickets.
For general information there are currently no height restrictions on any of the carparks in Bude or at Widemouth Bay. There is a height barrier at Northcott Mouth Beach.
For overnight parking and camping/touring in Bude, we have some great campsites and holiday parks nearby.
If you prefer more casual camping, there is a camping area at Widemouth Bay called Sandparks, and Broadclose Park which is just off the town centre.
