Welcome to Coxswain’s Cottage, a charming Grade II listed cob cottage dating back to the 18th century, nestled in a serene residential street within Bude’s historic conservation area.  This delightful abode combines historic charm with modern comforts, offering guests a stylish retreat in the heart of Bude.

Ideally situated, Coxswain’s Cottage is just a leisurely stroll away from Summerleaze and Crooklets beaches, inviting you to explore the stunning South West Coast Path. Additionally, the vibrant array of shops, restaurants, and bars that Bude has to offer are conveniently located right on your doorstep.  At the end of the road, you’ll find The Barrel independent pub, along with a bakery, delicatessen, and a variety of independent food and clothing shops.

Step inside Coxswain’s, and you’ll find a welcoming ‘home from home’, meticulously furnished cottage adorned with contemporary décor.  The cottage features an eclectic mix of modern furnishings and artwork by local painters and photographers, harmonising with its original features such as Persian rugs, slate floors, and stripped pine flooring.  With gas central heating, the cottage offers a cozy retreat throughout the year, remaining warm in winter thanks to its thick cob walls and cool in summer with its slate floors.

The well-equipped galley-style kitchen boasts modern amenities, including a Panasonic fridge-freezer, double Rangemaster dual fuel cooker, Bosch dishwasher, and microwave.  Adjacent, a separate utility room houses a washing machine and dryer, perfect for storing beach gear and muddy boots after a day of adventure. The kitchen overlooks a spacious dining room, offering a delightful space to savour meals while enjoying garden views.

For relaxation, the sitting room features two plush double sofas, an ornamental fireplace, and entertainment amenities like a TV, DVD player, and radio.  Upstairs, two generously sized bedrooms await, each thoughtfully appointed with luxury bedding, quality towels, and ample storage space.  The master bedroom boasts a double bed with a luxury sprung natural-filled mattress, while the twin bedroom offers comfort with quality interior sprung single mattresses.

At Coxswain’s Cottage, we understand that pets are family too, which is why well-behaved dogs are welcome by prior arrangement. A supplement of £30 per week applies, and to maintain the cottage’s standards, dogs are kindly requested to refrain from furniture and upper floor access.

Outside, the large private enclosed garden beckons with a patio area ideal for al fresco dining and a BBQ, providing the perfect setting to unwind and soak up the sun. Widemouth Bay and Blackrock, renowned surfing destinations, are just a 15-minute walk along the nearby coast path or a quick two-minute drive. Lifeguards are on duty daily during the summer months, ensuring a safe and enjoyable beach experience.

Parking is available for two cars at the top of the south-facing lawn for your convenience. The owners reside in an adjacent property, offering a warm welcome upon your arrival and assistance with any queries during your stay.

High View House is a cherished family property, boasting almost 75 years of history. Please note that this split-level property has three steps inside the house. As it is situated next to farmland with livestock, pets are regretfully not allowed. Smoking is permitted in the garden but strictly prohibited inside the property. Experience the charm of the thoughtfully renovated Coach House Cottages at Cann Orchard. These beautifully designed spaces feature vaulted ceilings, exposed beams, tumbled limestone floors, and handpicked furnishings. The well-equipped kitchens are designed to bring the comfort of home-cooked meals to your stay. Each cottage includes an enclosed garden, and guests can enjoy a shared deck overlooking the pond, complete with a ceramic egg BBQ and outdoor dining area.

Bramley cottage features an open plan kitchen-living area, log burner, a large bedroom and en-suite. The en suite bathroom features a roll top bath and spacious walk-in shower. It has a private garden area which overlooks the lake where you can enjoy the morning sun.

Please note that while Parlour may be suitable for those with limited mobility, there are two steps into the porch, which provides storage space for buggies.

For added convenience, one well-behaved dog is welcome for a small additional charge of £20. Owners must bring their own dog basket or cage. It’s important to note that Parlour opens onto a shared child-friendly courtyard and does not have its own garden. The property is thoughtfully designed for accessibility, providing comfortable accommodation on one level throughout.

Trewhel-ju is ideal for a couple but can accommodate a couple and two children; there is also room for a cot. The accommodation is fully accessible and there is a wet room.

We have installed solar panels on the south-facing roof and the cottage is insulated to a high standard. We recently received our Energy Performance Certificate – Trewhel-ju is rated A96, the highest score our assessor has seen. We used recycled materials where possible.
