At Beau Nidol, we not only showcase and sell our own art on-site, but we also offer enriching half-day fused glass and Tiffany glass workshops. Immerse yourself in the art of glass creation as you bring your vision to life.

Our workshops provide a perfect opportunity for artistic expression. We extend a warm welcome to children as young as 12 when accompanied by an adult.

Fused Glass Workshops

Embark on a creative journey with our Fused Glass Workshops, lasting approximately 2 hours. During this immersive experience, you’ll have the opportunity to craft unique items such as plaques, suncatchers, jewellery, or a design of your choice.

The workshop fee covers a set amount of glass, but for those dreaming bigger, additional glass can be purchased. We also offer the option to mount your creation on driftwood for a small fee, with other display choices available.

After your artistic endeavour, your masterpiece will undergo a transformative process in the kiln overnight. If additional work, such as drilling holes or mounting on driftwood, is requested, pieces will be ready for collection or postage 48 hours after the workshop (postage costs vary based on size).

Fused Glass Workshops are suitable for ages 12 and above, making it a perfect family-friendly activity.

Tiffany Glass Workshops

Discover the artistry of Tiffany glass, a technique pioneered by Louis Comfort Tiffany also known as copper foil glass. Immerse yourself in the captivating process of wrapping glass edges in copper foil, skilfully soldering them together to craft intricate designs.

During our Tiffany glass workshops, you’ll embark on a journey of learning, mastering glass cutting, copper foiling, and soldering techniques. Choose from a selection of small panel designs that serve as a canvas for your creativity.

Our Tiffany glass workshops offer a fulfilling experience spanning 2 to 3 hours, perfect for ages 14 and above.

Welcome to Docton Mill Tea Rooms & Gardens, a hidden gem in the heart of Hartland, North Devon.

Discover the captivating story of Docton Mill Wild Flower Gardens, nestled in a stunning valley just 1000m from the coast. Originating in the 1930s, the garden faced a period of neglect in the 1970s. The resurgence in 1980 brought about the renovation of the Mill, extensive planting, and the creation of a new Bog Garden and borders, accompanied by the planting of numerous trees. The new millennium ushered in further developments, including the Magnolia Garden, expansive Herbaceous borders, Woodland Garden, and a Greenhouse area for extensive plant propagation.

Our Wild Flower Gardens follow a theme of natural simplicity. In spring, witness displays of narcissi, primulas, camellias, rhododendrons, and azaleas, all framed by the enchanting presence of bluebells. Summer brings a profusion of roses, including a rose bank of Felicia and Pax, alongside the Herbaceous border. Explore a field boasting 25 varieties of magnolia, ensuring a garden that captivates throughout the seasons.

The objective is to catch a wave substantial enough for you to stand on the board and ride the wave. By using long boards, extending up to 9 feet, these are easier to balance on and control. Our instructors are on hand to assist you in catching the perfect wave, providing you with the optimal opportunity to ride the board with style and skill.

Body/Boogie Boarding:
On the other hand, body or boogie boarding employs a much smaller board, especially suitable for smaller children. This activity is typically confined to the safe swimming area, offering a secure and enjoyable experience.

You will set sail in a Mitchell 31 MK II boat, boasting onboard toilet and handwash amenities. This vessel provides seating for up to 12 passengers, including a dedicated crew member. Your skipper will navigate the waters with ease on this reliable and spacious boat, ensuring a memorable experience for you and your companions.

OA Surf Club organises surf lessons at Widemouth Bay, just a stone’s throw from Bude. This expansive sandy beach serves as an idyllic setting for both learning the basics of surfing and honing your existing skills. Whether embarking on this adventure solo, with family, or alongside a group of friends, our amiable and skilled team is not only dedicated but their passion and contagious enthusiasm, ensures you receive nothing short of the finest experience in the water.

Whether you’re a first-time surfer eager to catch your first wave or seeking to refine your technique, our expert coaches specialize in optimizing every moment of your session. Our comprehensive lessons encompass the essentials, from learning how to carry a surfboard to mastering the art of catching waves and adopting various standing techniques.

Our crafted 2-hour lessons strike the perfect balance, combining valuable coaching time on the beach with extensive water sessions. This approach ensures you not only grasp the fundamentals during instruction but also have ample time in the water to hone and practice your newfound skills.

At Shoreline we use a number of soft-shelled surf boards designed to help you get started and develop a robust technique. Not only are these boards extremely safe but they are also light and easy to carry to and from the shore. Being very buoyant these boards catch the waves easily making sure that you will have plenty of rides on which to get to your feet and polish up your surfing style!

We generally run half day sessions throughout the year providing Instructors, Boards, Wetsuits with Hats and Gloves in the colder months. This is a great individual sport and group activity where you can never predict who will come out as the session’s star, its physical but very rewarding.

Within Bude itself we boast three very different beaches with Crooklets being the most well known as our classic ‘surfing’ beach. Crooklets is home to the towns Surf Life Saving Club the very club that provides the training and Lifeguard qualifications essential to our team of coaches. The Surf at the west facing Crooklets beach breaks along a long sandy shallow sloping beach creating endless peeling and broken waves perfect for learning and practising your surfing techniques.

This was a fantastic experience and Paul is so knowledgeable and friendly . My 2 boys 7yrs & 15yrs have additional needs and he won them over . As a family we absolutely loved the experience , didn’t feel rushed and was made to feel very welcome . I would highly recommend this experience , it’s worth going just to see the beautiful surroundings/settings . We learnt so much !

Bude and North Cornwall Golf Club was founded in 1891 when it was then known as North Cornwall Golf Club. It is a classic links course which is defined as being on sandy soil and next to the coast without many trees. As a result, the wind can be a big factor on a links course, considered by most to be trickier to play on. It’s a beautiful course with undulating greens and stunning views of the coast and countryside. Conveniently located in the centre of Bude with parking, onsite bar and restaurant which is open to members and non-members and an outside terrace area with sunset views over the sea.

In 2003, David Westcott and Alice Gare assumed ownership of Welcombe Pottery. This charming establishment, originally an old smithy, under went a transformation into a pottery and gallery back in 1972.

Alice Gare
From her earliest memories, Alice has always had a passion for crafting and embellishing objects. After completing a Fine Art studies at WSCAD, Farnham, in the early 90s, she embraced a career as a full-time potter alongside her partner, David. In 2010, she delved into the world of glass crafts, and has been fortunate enough to cultivate both practices in Welcombe.

Her artistic journey involves hand building unique pieces in earthenware and porcelain, employing a variety of techniques to delve into the realms of colour, texture, and form. Alice finds immense fascination in surface decoration, crafting transfers from her own prints, and utilizing slips while incorporating pressed plants and found objects into the clay body.

The vast sea and expansive skies of the North Devon/Cornish coastline serve as constant inspiration for both her glass and ceramic creations.

David Westcott
In the early 1970s, David’s journey with clay began with a degree in ceramics, igniting a lifelong passion for this extraordinary medium. From the outset, he was captivated by its endless possibilities, and over the years, he’s delved into various clays and glazes, ultimately finding his niche in stoneware and porcelain. His focus lies in crafting pottery for everyday use, where design and functionality intertwine seamlessly.

Each piece he create embodies a commitment to simplicity of form and a tactile, ergonomic experience. Central to his practice is the art of glazing — an area that has always fascinated David. Whether formulating new glazes or refining existing ones, for David every firing is an opportunity for experimentation and discovery.

Welcombe Pottery is more than just a studio; it’s a testament to the ever-evolving nature of ceramics. As David continues to explore new shapes and glazes, he is reminded of the boundless depth and diversity of this ancient craft. One lifetime scarcely scratches the surface of its complexity.

Coasteering is an exhilarating mix of fun, thrills, and excitement. Upon arrival, the team at Shoreline will outfit you in wetsuits, buoyancy jackets, helmets, and a pair of old trainers before setting off to explore the rugged coastline of North Cornwall.

Whether you’re keen on swimming, diving, scrambling, or jumping, there are plenty of options to cater to everyone’s adrenaline levels. Their carefully selected location boasts sea caves, rocky outcrops to navigate, and ample opportunities for thrilling deep-water jumps.

But coasteering isn’t just for the adrenaline junkies. With jumps of various heights (all optional) and stunning underwater flora and fauna to admire, there’s something for everyone in this activity.

Rest assured, they only conduct sessions when sea and weather conditions are optimal. Their experienced instructor team, led by a qualified Beach Lifeguard Trainer and Mountain Instructor,ensures every session is conducted with safety and professionalism as top priorities.
