The Bush Inn is a 13th Century free house in the beautiful parish of Morwenstow. Rich in character, this hidden gem is one of the oldest pubs in Cornwall, with a history of hospitality dating back to around 950AD. Less than a mile away from the North Cornish coast, the Bush Inn is a perfect stopover for those hiking the South West Coast Path. This one-of-a-kind pub has a quirky bar area oozing charm, contrasting the bright, modern restaurant offering stunning views of the sea.

Our Ethos
Being a rural pub in this beautiful part of the world, we strive to source as many local ingredients from the land around us. We pride ourselves in using quality local produce wherever possible with all of our eggs, dairy, poultry, beef, pork, lamb and potatoes coming from local suppliers in North Cornwall, some of which are farmers from here in Morwenstow. We even have our own herd of beef cattle situated just half a mile down the coastline.

Nestled on the border between Cornwall and Devon, a mere 20-minute drive from Bude, Tamar Lake Cafe offers a delightful array of breakfasts, light lunches, cream teas, and homemade cakes. Every scone and cake are lovingly baked onsite, ensuring a delectable selection to suit all tastes.

Located within the picturesque Upper Tamar Lakes country park, the cafe provides the perfect respite for visitors exploring the great outdoors. Enjoy fishing, walking, cycling, and birdwatching amidst the serene surroundings. Seasonal hire of canoes, SUPs, and kayaks adds to the adventure, while a dedicated children’s play area, accessible walking paths, and convenient toilet facilities cater to all ages and abilities.

Our cafe operates seasonally, so please check the website for current opening times. We warmly welcome furry friends, making us an ideal spot for a leisurely dog walk.

Parking is available for just £2.50, contributing to the vital conservation efforts of South West Lakes. Alternatively, visitors can park for free at Lower Tamar Lake and enjoy a scenic stroll to the main area.

North Cornwall’s Micropub and smallest live music venue, selling ales from small independent Cornish brewerys from the cask together with a great selection of Cornish wines, ciders & gins. Over 18s only. Well behaved dogs kept close on leads allowed.

Open from Tuesday to Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm, we provide an intimate setting for up to 8 people. To ensure you secure your spot, kindly give us a call the day before to book, as we tend to get quite busy!

Pre-booking not only allows us to prepare for any special dietary needs but also opens the door to a wider range of sandwiches and cakes, enhancing your dining experience. We appreciate your cooperation; it enables us to offer a better and more personalized service. We have a 1950’s oven and in 20 minutes we can be serving you the freshest of scones!
