Sundays at The Mad Hatters are a feast for the senses with our award-winning Sunday Carvery served between 12 pm and 1.30 pm. We highly recommend booking in advance, as our carvery is a sought-after experience. Adults can indulge for £13.95, while children enjoy a delectable experience for £8.95.

The Proudfoot family took ownership of the Bay View Inn in May 2024, after it had been closed for several months. As locals, they have always loved the Bay View and witnessed its development under different owners over the years. James, pictured in the middle, previously established and developed Whalesborough Cottages and Spa, which was sold in 2023. Seeking a new adventure and already owning fields around the Bay View, James saw this as an opportunity not to be missed. He also runs a seasonal campsite in the adjoining field. Wanting family at the heart of the business, James asked his daughter Annie, a former community nurse, and George, a former builder, to help run the Bay View. Annie, George, and their daughter Marnie embraced the opportunity and moved into the Bay View. The Proudfoot family is excited for the future and hopes to make the Bay View a central part of Widemouth Bay and its surroundings.

The Preston Gate Inn, is a charming pub being a former cottage dating back to the early 1980s. The establishment may be relatively young but the building itself boasts a rich history that adds to its unique character. You’ll find it in the ancient Cornish settlement of Poughill on the edge of Bude.

Originally known as “Pyston Yate” or “Priests Gate,” the origins of the pub’s name is thought to be connected to the nearby old Vicarage, which dates back to 1679. This historical link adds a touch of intrigue and invites you to step back in time as you enjoy the cozy ambiance.

A thriving pub serving great food.  Themed food nights, live music Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, quiz night Wednesday, open Mic night last Saturday of the month and a Sunday roast there really is something for every day of the week.

Bude’s hidden gem, located in an AONB near Northcott Mouth Beach. You’ll find locally sourced produce from this independently owned outdoor cafe. Family and dog friendly.

In the quaint corner of our shop at The Kitchen Front, on the Lower Wharf next to Bude Canal discover a piece of history at our 1940s’ Tea Room. Open from Tuesday to Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm, we provide an intimate setting for up to 8 people. To ensure you secure your spot, kindly give us a call the day before to book, as we tend to get quite busy!

Pre-booking not only allows us to prepare for any special dietary needs but also opens the door to a wider range of sandwiches and cakes, enhancing your dining experience. We appreciate your cooperation; it enables us to offer a better and more personalized service. We have a 1950’s oven and in 20 minutes we can be serving you the freshest of scones!

The Bush Inn is a 13th Century free house in the beautiful parish of Morwenstow. Rich in character, this hidden gem is one of the oldest pubs in Cornwall, with a history of hospitality dating back to around 950AD. Less than a mile away from the North Cornish coast, the Bush Inn is a perfect stopover for those hiking the South West Coast Path. This one-of-a-kind pub has a quirky bar area oozing charm, contrasting the bright, modern restaurant offering stunning views of the sea.

Our Ethos
Being a rural pub in this beautiful part of the world, we strive to source as many local ingredients from the land around us. We pride ourselves in using quality local produce wherever possible with all of our eggs, dairy, poultry, beef, pork, lamb and potatoes coming from local suppliers in North Cornwall, some of which are farmers from here in Morwenstow. We even have our own herd of beef cattle situated just half a mile down the coastline.
