Following the sucessful trial in 2025, Future Coast Bude are delighted to announce that the Bude Park and Ride will return in 2026!
Reduce congestion, take the pressure off car parks, improve the environment in Bude and enjoy a stress free trip!
Free parking will be available in the field situated between Bude Business Park and the A39. The entrance and exit will be off the A39. People will be signposted along the footpath in the field that runs parallel to the A39, and comes out on the layby on the northbound carriage way.
The bus will travel north along the A39, turn left at the roundabout and travel down the A3072 (Stratton Road), dropping off at The Strand / entrance to Summerleaze Beach, head north to Crooklets Beach and return to the Park and Ride field via King’s Hill.
Signs will be put on the north bound carriage way before King’s Hill and the south bound carriage way before the roundabout encouraging people to use the park and ride. There will be signs either side of the field entrance, as well as signs in the car park telling people where to walk and information about the buses.
Dogs are allowed on the bus, and beach equipment. Small body boards will be accepted if there is room, however unfortunately there will not be capacity for surf boards.
Background
A Park and Ride was a key recommendation in the Town Vision, consulted on and delivered through the Town Team.
The Town Vision stated, ‘By investing in improvement to Bude town centre’s public realm, transport options and connections, the negative impact of car congestion on the town centre can be reduced and more space can be used for initiatives that will grow a healthier, greener town centre that will adapt better to the challenges of climate change.’ Project 12 focussed on off-street parking and specifically mentions investing in a park and ride.

How much does the Park and Ride cost?
Return fares are:
- Adults: £2
- Children: £1
- Family ticket: £6 for up to two adults and four children
By comparison, 24 hours of parking at Summerleaze car park costs £10.50.
Park and Ride tickets are valid only on the dedicated Park and Ride service and cannot be used on other Go Cornwall Bus services.
Concessionary bus passes are not accepted on this service.
What times does the Park and Ride service run?
The first bus leaves the Park and Ride site at 9:30am.
Buses run every 15 minutes, departing the site on the hour and at 15, 30 and 45 minutes past each hour.
The final bus leaves the Park and Ride site at 6:45pm.
The first bus arrives at The Strand at 9:38am. Return buses from The Strand run every 15 minutes, departing at 12, 27, 42 and 57 minutes past each hour.
The final bus from The Strand leaves at 6:42pm.
How will Bude Carnival affect the Park and Ride?
Road closures will be in place for Bude Carnival on 16 August.
Between 6pm and 7pm, the Park and Ride pick-up and drop-off point will temporarily move to Budehaven Community School on Stratton Road.
Can I take beach equipment on the bus?
Yes, you can bring beach equipment onto the Park and Ride bus. However, the buses cannot accommodate large surfboards.
How far is The Strand from the beach and town centre?
From The Strand, it is approximately:
- 3 minutes’ walk to Bude town centre
- 5–10 minutes’ walk to Summerleaze Beach
- 15–20 minutes’ walk to Crooklets Beach
Can dogs travel on the Park and Ride?
Yes. Dogs can travel on the Park and Ride free of charge.
Is the Park and Ride accessible to wheelchair users?
The parking field has an uneven surface and may be difficult to navigate in a wheelchair.
The bus is fitted with a wheelchair ramp. However, there is no raised kerb at the Park and Ride site, so the ramp may be quite steep when in use.
Whose land is the Park and Ride site on?
The Park and Ride field is being used with the kind permission of the Dennis family.
What happens if I miss the final bus?
The Park and Ride site is approximately a 35-minute walk from The Strand.
When returning on foot, we recommend entering the field through the entrance from Bude Business Park.
Local taxi services may also be able to take you back to the site.
Please be aware that the gates to the Park and Ride site will be closed overnight.
