Wondering where you can get the best Cornish Pasty in Bude? Look no further! In the name of research and great customer service, we’ve been to the bakeries in Bude and purchased a traditional Cornish Pasty to find out.
A Traditional Cornish Pasty is a savoury pastry originating from Cornwall. It consists of a flaky, golden crust filled with a hearty mixture of meat, vegetables, and seasoning, typically encased in a distinctive half-moon shape. The traditional filling includes diced beef, potatoes, swede, and onions, seasoned with salt and pepper. The pasty is then folded over and crimped to seal in the delicious filling.
Cornish Pasties were historically popular among miners and labourers in Cornwall due to their convenient and portable nature. Today, Cornish Pasties are enjoyed by people around the world, and are eaten by almost every visitor to Bude.
Various pasty filings and sizes are available, but we’ve sampled the regular or medium sized traditional Cornish Pasty from bakeries and dairies in Bude town centre for this taste test.
The pasties were purchased at around 10am, and the blind taste test was conducted by members of staff and visitors who were in the Bude Tourist Information Centre at lunchtime on Thursday 28th March, 2024.
Each pasty was judged on taste, pastry, filling and appearance. The person who knew the origin of each pasty did not participate in the judging!
The results are listed below, and there is a clear winner!
